Hey guys.

I don't want to go to work today.

Kaylee says:
nl;ikkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkoopmhgygtyfg cvfg
and then she wanted to gnaw on my keyboard, so I put her down.

Morning folks *waves*

So very glad it is Friday. This week has seemed to be determined to make us pay for the extra day off. Oh well. Weekend!

So, I just realized that I own four of the five major gaming consoles right now (Wii, Xbox 360, PSP, and Nintendo DS). This is weird for me. I've always felt like I was one step behind in gaming, or at least among the minority of console gamers. Now suddenly I realize that I'm right there on top of things, as the only thing I lack is a PS3 (which ain't happening).

Then I thought, holy crap, how much have I spent on gaming in the last how many years? How much could I have saved?

So I did the number crunch. How much I paid for each system since I bought the first one, plus a generously round number for accompanying games. It works out to about $34/month over the last 30 months.

...which isn't that bad. I mean, yeah, that seems a perfectly reasonable amount of money to spend on permanent, replayable entertainment. I feel vindicated. grinning smiley

Exactly, Tchann!

I dug out my Gameboy Advance SP last night and thought, "Y'know, this thing is still good, I just need the battery charger and I'm set", so I may go to Wal-Mart after work to pick one up. ... And maybe see if I can buy one of the Pokémon games for it, 'cause I've had a hankering for those. >.>

Though I may have to buy the games used at Cash Converters or something, which is fine by me.

I still have my PS2 and my N64 somewhere. I oughtta dig those out, too.

I look at it the same way, Tchann. The money spent on WoW subscriptions and other gaming related things if far less when looked at on a monthly basis than a lot of things I could have as a hobby, and would probably get less enjoyment out of, because through WoW I have met some of the most awesome people and best friends.

Also... someone brought in this book to be copied... only 30 pages long, large format (11x14 pages on 22x14 spreads). It is the 1916 edition of the American Journal of Commerce for our town. It took me forever to get the pages scanned in, because I kept stopping to read them, just so I could actually get done with it I ended up making myself a copy. Two things struck me as worked on it:

1) The quality of the printing is impressive. It really is amazing what they were able to accomplish with the technology of the time. There are actually some images in it that are sharper and clearer than some things I have seen printed today.

and

2) I have the sudden urge to dig out my old books and run a 1900's Cthulhu game...

Edit: Still have my PS2 hooked up, and use it on a regular basis. Of the current generation all we have is the Wii and a DS. Wii is a lot of fun, marathon Mario Party ftw. I need more games for the DS, it kind of got set aside after the disappointment that was Lunar: Dragon Song, one of the games I bought the system for and has been more or less neglected since.

Hm, I should dig out some of my old consoles sometime too. SNES, N64, PS, PS2... only current-gen I have are Wii and DS. Still got my old clear Gameboy and Gameboy SP Advance somewhere too...

/noms

The only problem with trying to dig out my old consoles is... trying to find the cartridges for them. ;_; I managed, somehow, to lose my Yoshi's Island game at some point.

Hell, a year later and I'm STILL trying to hammer my way through Crisis Core on the PSP. I... jsut... play too much WoW. XD

That has been one of the things I have loved about the Wii, I can get tons of old NES and SNES games on the download service for $5-$10 each. I play those about as much as I do the new games.

Its nifty to see what other people have other than wow in gaming gear. I have a PS3 and a PSP hanging around my place. I technically have a PS2 as well, but its not even hooked up right now. >.>

I have to agree that its not as bad when you look at how long these things last and entertain us. winking smiley Its less than going out to a movie once a week by far.

Now... *flops over* Can it be 5pm now please?

(And go play in my art experiment!)

*sigh* Yeah, definately going to be one of those days... Customer we have done business for in the past called to get a quote on business cards. When asked what kind of stock the cards they currently have are printed on so we could match it, their response was: "It's white, and it's kinda smooth, and kinda bumpy, and it's kinda glossy, but not really, and it's not really a white white, you know."

Ooh, the art experiment looks interesting. If I get a few minutes of downtime today I'll try to do something for it.

I've still got a Sega Genesis somewhere. If I could find the plug my cousin lost it'd still work, too. I've also got a PS2 that still sees a lot of use, a DS that's just now starting to get the love it deserves, and a GBC lurking around somewhere.

It's probably developed sentience by now.

Also, good morning!

Since no one's mentioned it yet...I still have my NES. Still works, thanks to my dad tinkering with it about fifteen years ago. I love that thing like crazy. grinning smiley

While we are going way on back there, my mom still has our old NES, which has gotten finiky with age and works when it wants to, and our Atari 2600 that still works like the day we got it. =D
